How to Make Money from Freelance Job Sites Without Joining Any

Writers who don't want to be a ghostwriter and who avoid joining freelance job sites can still make money from freelance job sites without even joining them. Learn how.

You like to write for yourself. You’ve had a look at a few freelance job sites and have decided that they’re simply not for you.

You’ve discovered that if you joined any of these freelance job sites and got hired to do a writing project, you may very well get paid for an article, but that’s it. A lot of the time you’ll be writing as a ghostwriter, giving up your rights to the ownership of your articles, and not even having your name appear on them.

Some writers don’t mind being ghostwriters and may use freelance job sites from time to time, while other writers are not interested in this type of writing at all.

Don’t be in too much of a hurry to ignore freelance job sites. You don’t have to join any to use them as a source for ideas on what topics to write about for yourself, for your own sites, or for online writing sites.

Most freelance job sites allow their job posts to be viewed by everyone, whether people are already members, or are just browsing through the site. The client or job poster’s budget is often available to anyone to view too.

By browsing through the different job posts and comparing job budgets it is quite easy to get an idea of which article topics pay more. In the job descriptions it is also often possible to see how many words the client wants an article to be, and, if you’re lucky, they sometimes even say which keywords they want to appear in an article.

The clients who request certain keywords to appear have obviously already done some homework – or have had somebody else do it – and these are the job posts that you should take particular interest in.

Also check how many similar kinds of articles different clients are requesting. Those kinds of articles must be popular. The demand for those kinds of articles must be quite high.

While browsing through freelance job sites you may find many job posts that actually suit you, and that pay well, and you may change your mind about joining freelance job sites and writing as a ghostwriter. If not, then there are other things you can do with your newfound knowledge:

You can write similar articles to what the clients on the freelance job sites are requesting.

You can post these articles to your own sites, or even start a new site in a particular niche now that you know that certain niches seem to pay higher than others.

Place ads on your site and you can earn a passive income.

You could even start your own article site where you sell your own articles with usage rights only, or join a place like Constant Content where you can sell your articles. If offering them with usage rights only, you can sell your articles again and again and you get to leave your name on the articles too.

Browsing through freelance job sites can also give you ideas for new articles when you feel that you’re struggling to find new topics to write about.

The bottom line is not to overlook freelance job sites as a method of helping you to earn an extra income, even if you don’t actually join any of the sites.
