Never in the history of writing has plagiarism been that prominent as in the 21st century. The advent of the internet made it even worse as unscrupulous writers cashed in on modern technology and tools as article spinners and Public Label Rights (PLR) articles to peddle their trades. Are these deviants of the writing community really worthy to be called writers? You have to pardon my tone here if it’s a little bit harsh…..I guess this is very unlike me. But it is a serious matter as it could be really painful to see your works; works that took you real time to produce been copied verbatim or in parts by another fellow elsewhere on the web.
Here at factoidz, the management frowns heavily at spun content. It will likely get you demoted or likely booted out of the program.
In this article, I will be addressing what spinning, copying and pasting does to you; a budding writer and how you can devoid for copying. I won’t bother with suggestions on how to stop plagiarism because this is impossible with the technology we have these days. Just as my good friend and astounding fellow writer, James R. Covey, rightly said in one of the comments here at factoidz it would be hard to stop because of the companies that invest heavily in producing spinning soft wares.
How Spun Content Affects You
It is true that copying and pasting others peoples work or using spinning soft wares to create a variety of one article gets you a good number of articles in record time, but how does it affect your reputation as a budding writer in the long run? Am using budding writer here because most seasoned writers will stay clear off spun contents.
Whether you are writing for factoidz or not, a single spun content could go a long way to tarnish the image and reputation you have so painstaking built over the years. Believe me, all it takes is just one spun content and that good image will vaporize.
Webmasters are constantly looking out for genuine and real writers to produce content for their websites and viral blogs. If it goes out that you are a content spammer and peddler of spun content; you can be sure no one will ever hire you. Even if you do change your name and profile, it won’t take long to still fish you out. It’s actually easy to decipher spun content; no matter how well you spin it.
Article spinning or copying or plagiarism does reduce your productivity. You no longer think and use your faculties. This leads to brain retardation as your IQ drops and ebbs away. You also become lazy and slothful. It is actually a sad state to have to depend on spinners to produce content.
If you are discovered to be a spammer or you plagiarize, writer who have good reputation and whose articles you have either copied or spun will fight you. You make enemies all over the world and this is not good for you. Do you remember the incidence here of someone copying contents and submitting at factoidz. The perpetrator faced the wrath of factoidz writers. That is what am talking about.
Devoid From Spinning: The How
How can you avoid spinning? You have to write your own content. Let me give you a tip on how to produce astounding content that ranks well and how to devoid from spinning.
There are two kinds of writing; you research the topic online then write or you right directly without research because you already know the topic well. The first type is usually where copying and pasting comes into play. For instance, this article didn’t require me doing any research, as are some of my articles in recent times and it will take me about 7 to 10 minutes to write. It will be unique from anything out there on the web.
The bane of most writers is that they tend to copy content from search engines and paste in their word processor and then make some alterations. This is spinning in its advanced form. I suggest you read it online and jot some points down on a writing pad; then go use it to write an original content. You should however reference the site where you got your points. Using this method, you will never produce spun content. There is nothing wrong with researching online; we all do it. It’s just how you go about it that counts.
Article spinning, copying and pasting is the bane of most writers and we should do all in our power to devoid from it.
Critical views on the chosen topic.Thanks.
Add to this that article spinning is one of the most lucrative and in-demand types of "writing" on the Internet. You can make HUGE money just responding to the spun article demand. FAR more than you can make here.
Good points. I agree with you.
Creating original content in articles will keep you in the good books with readers, fellow writers, and publishers every time. Well written, vote up
I love article spinning, and the mechanical spinners. These are my reasons why. The grammar and punctuation is so poor, it takes an hour or more to read every word and sentence to make corrections and rewrite them. Some of the spinners require you to set up the article at least 3 times before it will spin it. You stay so busy with spinning, just to get one article done correctly so that it is readable, it allows me to write 3-4 articles of original content which puts me ahead of the game on earning some income from my articles. As an affiliate marketer, article spinning has become so popular among the lazy and idiots, I am thinking of promoting them, so I can earn more money from these idiots.
Wow. Heartbreaking, deeply disturbing, saddening, frightening, depressing, pitiable, and shameful all in one, fell swoop.
Very interesting article.
I often wonder how people can even partially take someone elses material. In my mind that is literary fraud. Well stipulated information and loudly enough said.Good! It needs to be read by all and then acted upon too.
@James, true that huge amount of money can be made from spinning articles as I have seen in a particular freelance site where a client placed an offer for some one who could spin and churn out article in the hundreds. He got lots of offers. I don't have respect for so-called writers whose sole activity is spinning; no matter how lucrative it might be.
There are a few 'writers' here on Factoidz that are habitual copy-spinners if not outright plagiarists. One writer in particular creates 'product reviews' that are nothing more than copy/pasting halves of OTHER genuine Factoidz product reviews (often containing first-person observations and data) and submitting this as an 'original' comparison/review. Numerous reportings of this this person have to date gone unanswered by Factoidz, and the offender as of this writing, remains. It is truly sad that this cheat is probably receiving the 'bonus' monies for these product reviews, as well as monthly royalties based upon viewership.
@Linda, couldnt help laughing when I read your comments. Perhaps, you used the right words for them. However, I wouldnt solicit tangling with them or promoting a spinning software in your blog. True, you might make good sales because they are hot but it might go a long way to tarnishing your image as a writer. Thanks for the contribution.
@thestickman, Thanks so much for stopping by; do appreciate your presence. Concerning the issue of 'product reviews' been lifted verbatim, I have equally noticed the phenomenon. I actually thought they were done by factoidz themselves since such couldnt have gone un-noticed. This is serious and I guess with our insistence the management will sure do something about it. Again, thanks.
The question remains as to why those who are stealing content, not only stealing it, but spinning it, and then publishing it as their own work are allowed to not only earn money that should be going to the original writer, but remain members of Factoidz.
Your article is timely. I see it every day with writers using almost the same title with a spin. One of the ones I rarely read is how to improve your online writing as almost every writer has the same message. I give this a vote up
Great information here, I actually didn't realise that this phenomenon was so widespread and I find it quite sad really that people are doing it... surely if you want to be a writer - you should be able to write? Otherwise a person can be likened to a television pretending to be a teapot!
Tania, the "writer” designation has been blurred, totally usurped, and finally obliterated in the past five years. Genuine writers may ultimately have to choose a new title for themselves.
The latest algorithms on Google were specifically designed to stop duplicated content from showing up in the search results. Nevertheless, people are still plagiarizing my articles every now and then.
